Therapy Services Offered

Coping With Anxiety, Depression, Anger, Overwhelm

I deliver tips, tools and strategies when required to help you cope with anxiety, depression or feelings of overwhelm. This may be your request as well? Sometimes it's a panic attack at work, or an unknown reason behind feeling depressed. You may be feeling like you haven't had a 'normal' day in weeks,

Moving Through Grief

Are you grieving? You may not be able to answer that right now; grief is something sometimes we don't recognize, or want to recognize. We want to take it in stride, or not have to deal with it at all. Maybe we are afraid it will deal with us, so it is best left alone. That's one approach to grief, there are others. Sometimes you know you are grieving, you can't escape it, and everyone else knows you're grieving too. Perhaps you've been given time off work to grieve. Regardless of the circumstance grief is always a journey. Most people you know might be awkward around grief, they might even say the wrong thing without knowing it, which is another difficult reality. Grief often involves transitioning to a new chapter in your life, and sometimes I'm privileged to bear witness to that transition with clients. I am here to listen. I don't have answers, and I know that's not what you came for. I accompany you on your grief journey during your time in session, and the insights I offer may help you in your progress.

Healing Workplace, Family or Romantic Relationships

Improved relationships depend in part on deeper self-understanding, authenticity and confidence. They also require above average communication skills; I offer relationship help for couples and individuals, as well as counselling for problematic relationships at work or school that may involve bullying, workplace politics and/or balancing expectations.

Anger Management

When you’re angry, do you start name-calling? Do you get angry when someone wants you to open up and share your feelings? Do you lack patience? Are your family members or kids afraid to talk to you? No one wants to admit they get angry, especially when it gets out of control and hurts the ones we love. Anger issues aren’t uncommon and the first step towards change is an admittance of the problem. Learning to stop isn’t as simple as some may think, but together we can come up with a game plan tailored exclusively to you.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT is a short-term, problem-focused form of behavioral treatment that helps people see the difference between beliefs, thoughts, and feelings, and free them from unhelpful patterns of behavior. CBT is grounded in the belief that it is a person’s perception of events – rather than the events themselves – that determines how he or she will feel and act in response. Most people with clearly defined behavioral and emotional concerns tend to reap the benefits of CBT. With CBT, you’ll be able to adjust the thoughts that directly influence your emotions and behavior.

Conflict Resolution

Conflict resolution therapy can teach you how to cope in challenging situations by helping you focus on finding solutions as you navigate conflict. In any type of relationship, be it personal or professional, conflict is bound to happen. It's not reasonable or realistic to expect two people to always agree on everything. Even though conflict is a normal, healthy part of any relationship, trying to deal with it when it comes up can feel anything but healthy or normal.

Counseling for Anxiety

When it comes to treating anxiety disorders, research shows that therapy is usually the most effective option. That’s because anxiety therapy - as opposed to anxiety medication - treats more than just symptoms of the problem. Therapy can help to uncover the underlying causes of your worries and fears, learn how to relax, look at situations in a new, less frightening way, and develop better coping mechanisms and problem-solving skills.

Couples Counseling

Do you feel like your relationship is at a standstill? Are you and your partner stuck in the same argument loop every night? Do you feel like you and your partner are drifting away? Do you desire more intimacy between you and your partner?

All things can be improved, changed, and bettered with just a little support, no matter how big or small. With couples therapy, you’ll learn how to communicate your feelings and needs, and get what you want out of your relationship.

Grief & Bereavement Counseling

Grief and bereavement aren’t light-hearted topics. Bereavement refers to the process of recovering from the death of a loved one, and grief is a reaction to any form of loss. Both encompass a wide range of emotions such as fear, anger, and deep, deep sadness. The process of adapting to a loss can dramatically change from person to person, depending on his or her background, beliefs, relationship to the person who’s passed, and other factors.

Group Therapy

Group therapy differs from individual therapy by holding therapeutic sessions in a group setting run by a therapist instead of in a private one-on-one setting with a therapist. In these group sessions, patients share their thoughts and experiences with the whole group, allowing them to support one another while being supported by a group of people who understand what they're going through. If you’ve been feeling hopeless or alone lately, or struggling with a problem in your life that feels unsurmountable, group therapy could help you improve your everyday life.
